June Can Wall at Pinewood Honors Local Artist, Visionary and Friend Cano Ozgener
The June can wall is a dedication to Cano Ozgener, a man that is impossible to explain or summarize. Cano was many things – founder of OZ Arts Nashville and CAO Cigars, Ping-Pong Champion of Turkey, bi-lingual, highly educated. He was a husband, brother, father, and grandfather. He was an artist. And while all of those things are highly impressive on their own, much less grouped together, we were lucky enough to know Cano personally and can speak to what an amazing person he was. Warm, endearing, engaging. He had a spark, an electricity, he was contagious. Cano was a visionary who inspired many.
Cano Ozgener passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, June 9, at the age of 81. Cano passed away from cancer, the very disease that led him to the arts late in life. Dedicating the June can wall to his beloved memory is the least we can do for him.
As Bryce McCloud, the Can Wall mastermind said, “Like love – Pi is an infinite concept that connects this temporal life of ours to the universal one. This week Cano Ozgener embarked onward from our dimension to explore the next. Thanks for all the positive energy you brought to the world.
We’ll miss you as friends and as a city. Godspeed ~ Excelsior ~ Cano Ozgener 1937-2018"
