Kick Back on Some of Nashville's Favorite Patios

Kick Back on Some of Nashville's Favorite Patios

When winter starts creeping in and everyone around me is so excited about nonsense like sweaters and snow and, you know, Christmas, I roll my eyes. Sure, hot cocoa by the fire is good and all, but have these people ever had rosé on a patio?!

I live for spring afternoons on a breezy  patio filled with friends and festive drinks; throw in some delicious appetizers and maybe even some music and I’m on cloud nine. That’s why springtime makes me downright giddy (among other reasons, like the ability to wear cute sandals and having the motivation to finally emerge from my heated blanket).

Luckily for me (and for you, too!) Nashville is rife with glorious patio situations in every part of the city.

If you’ve caught major spring fever and are on the hunt for the perfect patio, we’ve got you covered.

Rare Bird

Perched atop the Noelle hotel downtown, this rooftop cocktail lounge sports ridiculous views of the city and draft cocktails galore. Sip on one of their signature Juleps (the Los Angeles Julep has tequila and strawberry honey—yes please) while you snack on small plates like caramelized onion dip or pimento cheese.

Pinewood

It’s hard to find another outdoor space that can rival Pinewood’s, with it’s bocce ball court, ping pong tables, dipping pools and even a retro Airstream which serves up tasty bites and refreshing drinks. Sip on a Palomarita from the bar — made with tequila, lime, giffard pampelmousse, and soda….um, yum! — and dig into some tasty tacos from the Airstream if you’re hungry.

Geist

When something is dubbed “The Champagne Garden,” you can count me in. Geist, which has been named one of the 13 most beautiful new restaurants in America by the Robb Report, flaunts pretty lighting, working fireplaces and close proximity to downtown with it’s Germantown locale. While nighttime on Geist’s patio is insanely gorgeous, I’m partial to patio-sitting for brunch, where you can feast on fresh baked biscuits, bacon jam and, of course, all the mimosas your liver can handle.

The Pharmacy

You’ll find the beer garden to end all beer gardens at East Nashville’s The Pharmacy, with perhaps the most unique and meticulously selected beer menu in town. Its sprawling landscape complete with picnic seating and plenty of green space provides ample room for kids to run around, if you happen to be dragging your offspring to your next happy hour (just me?). And whatever you do, don’t forget an order of their ridiculously delicious tater tots.

Fat Bottom Brewery

Tour the onsite brewery, crush a juicy burger and play a round of corn hole before you sit back and relax on Fat Bottom Brewery’s spacious  patio with one of their popular craft beers. Their new bigger and better location in the Nations is the perfect wide-open space to unwind with friends and play yard games in the glorious spring weather.

Urban Cowboy's Public House

Urban Cowboy, a trendy bed and breakfast in East Nashville, boasts one of the most unique patios that will probably make you feel cooler than you really are. Public House is known for its hipster-chic vibe, creative cocktails, friendly atmosphere and some great people watching, and be sure to take a peek inside the breathtaking Queen Anne Victorian mansion that houses the bed and breakfast.

Kung Fu Saloon

According to their website, midtown’s Kung Fu Saloon is the place to go for “pickle shots, crazy Friday Nights and Sunday Fundays,”, so you better bring your party pants if you hit up this popular patio. Try your hand at favorite throwback arcade games like Ms. Pacman and Mortal Combat, or dabble in a round of  shuffleboard, foosball or ping pong, while you sip on something from their unique drink menu and snack on their pub-style menu.

L.A. Jackson

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention this Gulch favorite, showcasing sweeping views of downtown Nashville and plenty of seating in its indoor/outdoor rooftop bar. Located on the top floor of the gorgeous Thompson hotel, both locals and tourists alike are drawn to this trendy patio for its custom craft cocktails, DJ sets and the ever-important late night menu. And, just when you thought it couldn’t get better, L.A. Jackson offers brunch on the patio in the spring!
