Nashville Lifestyles says Henrietta Red is #1!
Last month, Nashville Lifestyles put out their annual Best Restaurants issue. Every April they enlist their trusted staff to a very challenging job – to determine the best full-service restaurants in Nashville. Now, we all know that this is no small feat. The restaurant boom here is real, that’s for sure. In 2018 alone there were 133 new restaurants that opened! And NL doesn’t restrict this list to brand new restaurants, though each restaurant must have opened by November 1, 2018, to ensure they had solid footing by the time the April issue of Nashville Lifestyles went to print. So as I was saying, no small feat in choosing just 15 top restaurants in our ever-growing city!
The benchmarks noted for making their decision included: the food and beverage program, the service, the atmosphere, and the consistency. And let me say, there are some real winners in this list. I was thrilled to see City House at number 8. An oldie but a goodie, City House is one of my first choices when going out to eat because I KNOW it will be a good experience all the way around. I was also happy to see Green Pheasant at number 13 on their list. In a gorgeous space downtown, The Green Pheasant puts you in the mood to try some new things from the minute you walk in the door. (Seriously, try it, you will not be disappointed!) And, I have to note that our beloved Catbird Seat came in at number 6 and Bastion number 2. Not too shabby for our Strategic Hospitality establishments!
Alas, which restaurant was number 1 you ask? This year, Nashville Lifestyles bestowed the honor to Henrietta Red! That’s right, our very own Henrietta Red, led by Chef Julia Sullivan and GM and sommelier Allie Poindexter, was named the top restaurant in Nashville thanks to its beautiful interiors and its vegetable-driven, forward-thinking menu. NL noted that the curated wine selections and hospitable service are strong supports to the tasty menu, and that all of these items are consistently on point. Way to go, Henrietta Red!
“We are honored to be recognized in Nashville Lifestyles, and to be mentioned alongside other fantastic restaurants here in the city,” said Chef Julia Sullivan. “Our goal has always been to consistently put out a delicious menu, offer tasty and interesting wine and cocktail options, and provide friendly service, so it’s so nice to be recognized for those exact things!”
When Nashville Lifestyles made their choice, they asked Henrietta Red if they would like to celebrate by being the host of NL’s annual fundraiser for the Make a Wish Foundation, and Henrietta Red was happy to oblige. On Wednesday, May 22 from 6pm to 8pm, there will be a cocktail and hors d'oeuvres celebration. The event is being held outdoors, in the courtyard located to the side of Henrietta Red. The festivities will include an oyster shucking station, roasted cauliflower snacks with dipping sauces, canape versions of the snapper crudo, the smoked mackerel and avocado salad, and beet cornets. Best Brands has donated liquor so have no fear, there will also be jello-shots to accompany those yummy bites!
And if you’ve never had the chance to enjoy the courtyard before, it’s simply lovely on an early summer evening. Tickets are $60 and a portion of the event proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee. We’ll see you on the 22nd!
