Weekly Top 5: Weekend Happenings We Can't Wait to Check Out
It’s that time of year, folks: when we finally break out of winter hibernation mode and launch ourselves into the fun and festivities of spring and summer. The chill has left the air and in its wake are sunny and breezy days just begging us to get out and enjoy! Here at Broad Varieties, we’re all hungry to get out and soak up as much of this beautiful time of year as we possibly can, but as stuffy 8-5ers, we have only the weekends to fully bask in all the glory. Which is why we take extensive measures to make sure our weekends are fully loaded up with activities that will make the most of our sacred time off.
And y’all. This weekend is STACKED.
Take a look at our Top 5 Nashville Happenings We Can’t Wait to Check Out:
1. The Spring Tennessee Craft Fair
The Tennessee Craft Fair starts today at Centennial Park and lasts through the weekend. Personally, this is one of my favorite ways to spend a sunny weekend day. Even if you don’t have money to spend on all of the goods these talented artists have to offer, it’s always fun to poke around and enjoy all the eye candy. Plus, there’s always kettle corn being sold on-site, so spend like, $5 on that if nothing else and call it a day!
2. Strawberry Jubilee at the Nashville Farmers Market
Believe it or not, strawberry season is super succinct, and we’re currently smack dab in the middle of it! Peak strawberries are brought to market during basically the whole month of May and the beginning of June, so the NFM figured we ought to celebrate these ruby beauties. Stop by on Saturday from 10am to 4pm to catch the action, including a strawberry eating contest and cooking demos.
3. Goodguys Rod & Custom Auto Show at Nissan Stadium
If you drive by Nissan Stadium sometime today or tomorrow, you’ll notice quite the collection of antique cars and hotrods assembled in the parking lot, and it ain’t no coincidence: this weekend marks the 14th Goodguys Rod & Custom Show in Nashville. Featuring over 2,500 rods, customs, classics, muscle cars and trucks through ‘87, this ticketed event is worth the $25 general admission!
4. Derby Party at Downtown Sporting Club
Although it only opened a little over a week ago, the Downtown Sporting Club is already ready to throw a party...Derby Style! Don your wide-brimmed hat and seersucker suit and head downtown where DSC’s R.E.C. Room will be featuring mint julep drink specials and showing the race on both their big 14ft. projector screen, and on their gajillion 55in. TVs.
5. Sevier Park Fest
Sevier Park Fest, which takes place every year in the heart of 12 South, is a family-friendly event with both ticketed and non-ticketed events. From a ticketed concert by the Gin Blossoms tonight (!) to a free, family-friendly, all-day fun fest on Saturday, Sevier Park Fest is a highlight of spring every year!
