Downtown Sporting Club Introduces Summer Axe League

Downtown Sporting Club Introduces Summer Axe League

The new, multi-level, multi-concept building on Broadway known as Downtown Sporting Club is not only attracting droves of sports fans who are eager to watch their teams go head to head on television, but now Downtown Sporting Club is inviting fans to get in on the action themselves — and go head to head with one another.

While DSC has already launched their weekly Nerdy Talk Trivia every Wednesday night to encourage some friendly competition within the space, they’re about to up the ante on competitive fun. Starting in July, DSC will begin their Summer Axe Throwing League, and we have a feeling that this kind of competition could get a little more cutthroat.

The summer season, which will take place on Monday nights from July 15th to September 2nd, includes 8 weeks of axe throwing and culminates with one grand prize winner. With two time slots available (one from 6-8pm and one from 8-10pm) and twelve teams per time slot, there’s room for both seasoned throwers, and newbies who are just beginning to sharpen their skills.

Teams are made up of four players, each of which will throw at least 40 competitive throws each night. Scores are then tallied, recorded, and will later be released to the public on DSC’s website — but no pressure or anything. Similar to darts, players aren’t necessarily ranked on who throws against whom, but rather are scored by each player’s ability to hit the bullseye. At the end of the night, both individual and team scores are totaled up, and at the end of the season, a champion will be crowned!

Jackalope Brewing Company will be sponsoring League Night, so there are likely to be some delicious refreshments around just in case players need *a tad* of liquid courage to make their first throw.

Heck, you might even see Team BV taking a whack at it...
